A NEW YEARS MESSAGE - Glass & Glazing Products Magazine (January 2005 Publication)
Danny Hague, Group Commercial Director, Advantage Windows & Conservatories Ltd

Last year was a year of huge changes both for me personally and for Advantage.
I rejoined the company after a two year absence because founder and chairman Ian Moran
had a commitment to growth and investment that reflected my own ambitions.
From spring of last year we have driven forward every aspect of the business.

We opened a new 26,000 square foot factory to
add to our existing three sites that has taken our
production of trade frames to record levels.

We added a new decorative suite to enhance our
product range and expanded our field sales team.
Virtually every aspect of Advantage has been
improved, from new training programmes to new
IT systems, a new transport fleet and in in-house
marketing department.

As to 2005, I believethat as an industry we are in
for a tough year. Those companies that are going
to be successful will need to be both efficient and
price competitive. Raw material prices look likely
to rise but in my opinion consumers will resist
price increases.

Our product ranges, levels of service, deliveries
and of course our prices need to be spot on.

I also predict that the conservatory roof market will become more competitive this year. We have already
found that to be the case & we have the benefit of a specialist division with over a decade of experience.
Our big challenge here is to be forward thinking on how we market and sell our conservatory roofs.
I estimate the UK market to manufacture 250,000 roofs a year, with maybe 400 manufacturers up
and down the country, not everyone will survive !

A tough market suits me. That's where those companies who are efficient, who have good sales teams,
good marketing support and determination will win through. It would be fair to say that I'm confident
2005 will be another good year for us !
