title JOE COMPLETES 10 YEARS WITH ADVANTAGE . .

Joe Makin, an area sales manager for Advantage Windows and Conservatories Ltd, is celebrating
his 10th year with the company. His own personal milestone coincides with the company
achieving the highest level of orders in its entire history.

When Joe joined Advantage in 1996 he was
new to the industry and the company was
markedly different from today. Back then
they manufactured around 350 frames
per week and were a relatively small
manufacturer of conservatory roofs.

Ten years and much hard work later,
Advantage is breaking records for frame
production, is the UK's largest manufacturer
of K2 roofs and has successfully launched
a new national trade counter initiative which
is set to become the country's largest chain
of independent trade counters"

Joe's own career began in the early
seventies as a professional footballer.
From school he joined Oldham Athletic
football club and after three years he
moved on to Torquay United before a
series of injuries ended his playing career.

Since then he has worked in various roles in the retail sector in the Northwest of England before
being invited to join Advantage in 1996 by Chairman Ian Moran.

Joe's love of football has been an important part of his life. After he finished playing he decided
to take up coaching and has gained a full set of FA coaching badges. For the past 22 years Joe has
been coaching football for youngsters as young as six years old. He is currently the football development
coach for 'Reddish Vulcans JFC', a club based near Manchester, which is believed to be the most
successful junior football club in England. Joe says: "I spend most of my spare time coaching and
can honestly say that it is the most fulfilling activity you can possibly imagine. It gives me tremendous
pleasure to watch young kids learning to play football in a safe and friendly environment and to see
them progress and fulfil their potential."

During his 10 years with Advantage Joe's area has grown from looking after the Northwest,
Greater Manchester and Merseyside to the whole of the Northwest of England from Cumbria down
to Staffordshire. He says: "during each of my 10 years Advantage has taken positive steps to progress
to the next level. I have seen the introduction of a dedicated conservatory division, three new factories
opened and the workforce and management team expanded. New transport, the introduction of IT
systems and modern fabrication machinery has seen Advantage able to compete with the very best
in the industry. Underlying all this has been service. I believe our service is second to none and it's
that that has made the real difference."

This year has been very busy for Joe and the other members of Advantage's sales team. In January the
company launched the Window Installers Warehouse trade counter initiative. Joe has been at the heart
of the new scheme which allows retail window companies and wholesalers the opportunity to open a
branded WIW trade counter. He says: "The WIW initiative has been a tremendous success and I've
thoroughly enjoyed promoting its benefits. We are well on the way to becoming the largest independent
chain of trade counters in the UK and for me it's a very exciting to be part of such a dynamic business."
